Some pictures from the past year which were appealing to me starting with a fireworks display in the early hours of January 1st, 2017.

A picture of the coureur de bois from Festival du Voyageur.

The Festival du Voyageur is an annual 10-day winter festival that takes place in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The event is held during each February in Winnipeg's French Quarter, Saint-Boniface, and is Western Canada's largest winter festival.

I go for the ice sculptures and the food but in 2017 it was so warm that all the ice sculptures melted but there was the people... here with the trio of coureur de bois gathered around a warming fire.

I liked this picture which really captures Winnipeg in winter for me.... skating, the warming huts, biking in winter and just out walking but all enjoying the weather of our city.

And on January 7, 2018 this portion of the Mutual Ice Trail opened for the season. Hopefully the ice trail will open to 7km before long.

I just liked the paint like quality of this image of the Santa Convenience Store and the Oh Doughnuts shop on Broadway.

Wonderful photos! I especially like seeing city life in the winter--the OP is excellent!

That's no crocus! That's an orchid!
And looking a tad out of place with these wintry scenes! ;)

I stand corrected as the crocus is an orchid.

I liked the sense of forked lightning illuminating a night time sky.

through the skylight at the Forks Market with an interesting contrast of the icy view outside and the warmth in the market
