Kayaking The Maumee River

It was a foggy day, and the water was glassy still. Taken with my waterproof camera.

A deer I saw before putting in. It was only about 3 feet from me, and didn't care that I was there.

Saw a Great Blue Heron along the way. I was pretty close here, and it flew away right after.

Another view of the old bridge supports from under the new bridge.

Being at the level of the water gives one a much different perspective on the landscape. I especially like the glass like nature of the water... the perfect reflection without a ripple to be found in the river. Hard to say which picture I like the best... for me it is toss up between the image of the deer and the opening picture of the bridge support... the contrast between the deer and the surrounding greenery and the mirror like quality of the water really draw me in.

I like the clarity of the first image in particular, although I might crop some of the empty space from the top.

Very nice. That heron looks gigantic. I saw one squawking at a pelican this summer.
Something I'd never heard before! They are usually so quiet as they do their fishing.

That heron does look big and prehistoric, especially amidst that evocative mist. That column in the OP looks like an artifact made in place by the ancients. I don't know how you got this comp into balance, but somehow it is!
