On the Gulf Coast Intercoastal Waterway

This image was taken from the Brooks Bridge that crosses the Gulf Coast Intercoastal Waterway between Okaloosa Island and Ft. Walton Beach, NW Florida, USA. The day-sailer is a bit on the small side compared to the barge going in the opposite direction on 22 Jan. 2010.

The inclusion of the barge along with the sailor in the small sailboat brings a sense of human scale to the image. My idea of a "nice" winter day would be one simply with sun... never mind the temperature... just as long as there was sun... and you have the sun.

if it's just an internet picture why ask for comments? If someone is going to offer to show you his interpretation of an image wouldn't that be to help you learn what you could do with your picture rather than tout his skills. This is a learning community and if someone is willing to help you should accept and say thank you rather than block help. But if your goal is to take snapshots rather than photographs then you're on the right path.

This photo definintely classifies as a snapshot. One of the main photos concepts beginner courses offer is to simplify. The entire photo is a little blurry and nothing is really sharp. There is no real subject here. You're attempting to show the size of the catamaran vs the ship but the cat looks more like a toy than one having a real person in it. You're limited maybe by your vantage point, a shot from down up would've more shown the size difference. I've been in a boat at proximity to a cargo, it's a pretty daunting experience, this is not conveyed in the photo as well. All the port and city stuff at the top detracts from the photo and isn't necessary.

With all that said, I'm not sure you're open to criticism, but in case you where interested, those are my 2 cents.
