Dune Patterns

Taken a couple weeks ago with my Canon 5D mkII and Zeiss 35-70 lens.

I like the contrast in toning, the striations along the slope of the dune (hard to believe that those striations are created by the force of wind... the power of nature simply overwhelms me), and the inclusion of tracks in the upper right of the picture (they might be termed distractive and ruining the natural feel of the setting... but I find they help to bring a moody lonely feel to the location).

Wish it was mine. Very unusual for a dune comp (straight line patterns vs. the more common
wavy lines. I'm pretty sure the tracks were made by a wandering beetle. They have a
tendency to make very abrupt direction changes.

What is the scale of that formation? They look like the gills under a mushroom cap.
