One man on the water

This image was taken on a large pond near Choctawhatchee Bay (on Eglin Air Force Base) in NW Florida, USA.
The man was approaching the shore with some strong, harsh sunlight behind him. Date: 5 Dec. 2009.

Converted to B+W in Photoshop.

A difficult lighting condition presented very well in my mind. The diagonal placement of the paddle creates the sense of sparkling water being cast up into the air to capture the sunlight. The silhouetted figure of the kayak (with the rim lighting) stands out quite strongly set against the sparkling nature of the water.

I know the lighting situation would have been difficult, but really I think you need to do this either as a complete silhouette, or else showing some detail on the man's face.
