Symmetry

Taken a while ago, maybe a few years ago. I loved the symmetry of this austin martin and have scanned my original print and have cropped it to highlight the symmetry. Originally taken with a canon AE-1, manual focus 50mm lens I believe. I still remember the f stop was 5.6. Probably superia 100 film.

Back in the day when I used my AE-1 more than once a year this would have been a great image to have shot with Kodachrome 64 and projecting on a wall... truly symmetrical... I find the image works as well with the slightly overexposed bumper cropped out to slightly below the red lights.

it is an Austin Healey BJ8 NOT an "austin martin" which is actually Aston Martin.

well I guess the PHOTO itself must not be too bad :) Maybe its actually an Austin Healy 3000 MK111 ??

Jan, I agree that the crop you suggest makes for a stronger image.

I don't like the crop. You could possibly straighten it and then crop it a little, but I'd leave the bumper bar in, if at all possible.

Nice car! I'm gonna post a very similar shot of an Austin Healey 104 one of these days.

A Cheshire cat-like grin on that car. I was thinking I'd prefer the 'eyes' not being cropped, but I guess I can live with it. ;-)

I would have preferred not to have cropped the lights, if I didn't, too much of the car beside the austin would have been in the picture, throwing off the symmetry. Thus i intentionally cropped both lights by the same amount :)
