I can't believe you did it with the 80-400. Very good, but it looks better with a bit of sharpening, as Linda suggested. Did you use the 80-400 only with no extension? Would you give us the EXIF information?

Sharpness... The Moon was in haze (with some kind of halo). But the halo not present on the image. There is sharpness worsening instead of.

So I concentrated on volume extention (Highpath, etc.) to make the subject more impressive. Unfortunately the noise was awful, so I spent a lot of time to lower it.

Even with 400 (600) mm the Moon was too small - the picture was only cropped, not resized.

Well, one would expect something 321000 km away to have such a long description. I used to wish I had a good telescope for photographing the moon and stars. I'm still wishing. 8=)
