Red Dragonfly

Also known as Red-Veined Darter or Nomad.

This was taken with a Nikon 300mm F4 PF,instead of my 105mm
F4 Macro lens. I wanted to see how sharp the Nikon 300mm
really was.

The body of the dragonfly seems sharp and in focus (one can see the minute hairs on several of the legs of the creature) to me with the out of focus feel of the wings creating the sense of a shroud flowing around the dragonfly.

Impressive colors. I do like them "tamed" a bit as in Les's version. Less hot.

It's pretty cool how you can focus through their wings
