Osprey Hunting

I rarely use a tripod, except for the some macro work at
home. This trip to Iroquois, Ontario. The juveniles were in
the nest when I arrived I set up my lens on the tripod and
concentrated on the juveys. The mother was perched in a tree
nearby. After an hour the male osprey returns and had a
fish. I scrambled to release the locks on my tripod head and
totally missed my shot. Merde. I walked away convinced now
that handheld is best.

Once again the contrast between the osprey and the background sky serves to create a sense of forward motion for me. The talons really show up and one can only imagine the prey that is the eye sight of the bird has little chance of escaping their grasp.
