Ballerina by the sea

I posted a differently processed image of her years ago and
recently reworked it. She actually was a dancer with the
Bolshoi and lives on Kauai with her husband.

Another for the fun of it. I probably ought to have done something
about the blue hair, but then it would have lost some of the
strangeness!

I do like the wonderful smile on the young woman's face with the contrast between the young lady and the background serving to bring a sense of depth to the image. Both images work best for me with a black background.

You caught a natural relaxed expression in both portraits ...I
particularly like the ethereal look of the Original post.

Sorry if I am mis-reading this, but the OP looks to me as if you selectively sharpened
her eyes and mouth and now it's just a bit too obvious. Could be that my monitor is set
to sharpen more than yours.

She looks very young in the second photo.

I like the second posting...looks like a painting.;-)

Thanks for the critiques. Odd how her expression in the second is like a younger teen, as Linda noted, and in the first like someone in her twenties. Linda, yes, I slid the sliders on her eyes. Don't recall that I sharpended her mouth, but did remove some yellowing on her teeth.

I'd better stick to birds and landscapes and knock off the forays into OnOne's Portrait module.

Hi there! Ok, to start, I'm not experienced at critiquing yet, but
here it goes.
I personally like her softer expression, slight head turn and
framing in the 2nd post. (I think because it's on the 3rd)
I like the editing on the OP better. However, like Sandi's
comment, it kind of looks paintingish.
Because the flash is coming from below, you're getting a shadow
below her eyes, above her cheeks. If you shoot from eye height or
above, it would get rid of that and would probably make her look a
little less strained in the neck. (But I'm guessing you wanted the
background to be sky)
Did you paint the blue into the background? Hair wisps are super
hard to edit around. I usually slide the highlights down a bit and
if I add blue I erase around the hair and blend so it looks like
white clouds behind. It's tricky.
I'll have to check out your birds and landscapes but don't stop
trying portraits! I find that it's super rewarding and you really
never stop learning... EVER (unless that's just me being a super
slow learner)
