Caterpillar butterfly yellow flowers

I found a nest of these Caterpillars under a leaf.

Clarity of detailing but it is the contrast between the caterpillars and the background which really grabbed my attention in this image. When one moves into the macro mode the subject matter often times, for me, takes on an alien feel... the caterpillar looks like it is encased in a multitude of eyes as noted from the numerous black markings which is probably their purpose to keep the caterpillar safe from a predator thinking this is a dangerous creature.

That's a odd looking caterpillar. I bet they turn out to be a beautiful butterfly eventually. I like the comp...one on top and the other on the bottom...good catch.;-)

Sandi the one on the bottom I think is the mother, she is 3 times the
