...alone on a hill...

With nearly every public venue closed by the COVID-19 virus in Manitoba I thought that the Assiniboine Park Zoo might escape and remain open but that was not be the case as it also closed this past Wednesday.

So a visit now is through the images that I've taken over the past few months.

On a visit on February 21, 2020 there was only one lone polar bear to be seen and here it was alone on a hill.

I took this image on July 30 with most of the images being converted to b&w except for this one. The water in both the seals' pool and the bears' enclosures were really cloudy which showed up strongly in the color images.

I like the closeup of the polar bear and the girl, without that fence I'm sure she would be much farther away. Stay safe.

The OP and the feeding bear are standouts for me.

This large, muscular, hoofed mammal is sometimes referred to as a goat antelope, because it has things in common with both goats and antelope. But the takin is most closely related to sheep and to the goat-like aoudad, or Barbary sheep, of North Africa.

Tyger Tyger burning bright,
In the forests of the night:
What immortal hand or eye,
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?

One last shot of the creatures of Assiniboine Park Zoo. An upside down harbour seal... I think this is one of the blind harbour seals.

Les:

Thank you for viewing and commenting.

I kept putting off going to the zoo because of the weather and then the virus shut all the public facilities down in Winnipeg so I've had to go with the pictures I've taken in the past for my trip to the zoo.

Keep well.
