Journey to Churchill

I went to see the polar bears on Saturday with the hope of catching the bears in the water but like us humans here in southern Manitoba they were outside basking in the unusually warm weather for this time of the year. So I went with some older images of the bears.

I have a hard time telling the polar bears apart but one of the volunteers said it was equally true for them even though they spent a lot of time with the bears. They look for minor physical differences (a larger upper lip, a more pronounced nose) to tell the bears apart which would require a great deal of familiarity with the bear's appearance and individual behaviour.

Very nice Jan. Recently been reading about the plight of the polar
bears, especially with global warming. Its not allowing the ice to
freeze, and when it does, it thaws too quickly. Cutting short the
hunting time for them.

I like the sense of energy created by the polar bear diving through the water.

The size of the paw of the polar bear is quite impressive and one should add formidable.
