On January 29th and January 3oth we experienced some cold temperatures here in Winnipeg as did many areas on the Canadian Prairies and the central and eastern United States.

I took some pictures on the 29th when I was out for a morning walk while on the 30th I took another series but from the warmth of my apartment. This picture was taken on the 30th and though the blue of the water vapour was enhanced much of the day was spent viewing the cityscape through an ever shifting cloud.

The air temperature on both days was -35C with a windchill reaching -51C.

So after temperatures like that today felt relatively warm with temperatures rising to -20C. but the rest of the week is to be a downhill journey with high temperatures by the end of the week predicted to be -25C and then another cold week after that. Ah, winter in Winnipeg...

layers is the answer to the cold... the more the better but still at -26C with a windchill of -36C it felt COLD when the camera man from the CBC snapped my picture

Thank you Dale for viewing and commenting. By tomorrow morning our temperature will have reached -12C and we will think we are in a hot spell and we can take off a few of the multiple layers... hopefully the sun will be out.

The clouds/fog in these photos give them a dramatic edge suggesting
a chaos of some kind.

Currently, Canada's Atlantic provinces and the eastern coast of the
U.S. are being plagued by what experts are calling a "winter
hurricane." Fitting pictures
