Great Grey Owl at St. Bernard Island

This was taken a few years ago. I used my Sigma 120-400mm at
the time. I've retired that lens since I got the 300mm F4. I
don't anticipate going to St. Bernard anytime soon this
winter. So I'm just remembering what it was like to see a
beautiful like this in the wild.

What an enhance look in the eyes of the Great Grey Owl... makes one glad they are not an intended meal. The clarity of detailing combines well with the pose and there is also an underlying painterly feel to the image which I like.

I like the expression on the owls face, it looks pretty intense. Nice capture Steve.
