To give this first image some context... there was a group of 8 polar bears in one of their outside enclosures on this particular visit and they all seemed to be enjoying themselves playing in the snow.

There was a hazy snow shining through the mist and though it was sunny it was -16C with a wind out of the north it felt like -25C. Perfect polar bear weather so to speak.

A second visit a week later revealed only one polar bear; namely, the one being hand fed.

This past Saturday and this young lady was hand feeding one of the bears.

She said that the bears being fed in this manner are rotated so that one bear doesn't simply claim this area as their own.

From a visit in December I found this trio.

On the same 8 polar bears were enjoying themselves in their large enclosure a lone bear walked around in another enclosure.

Good shots. I like the second last one and the OP...looks like they had some Christmas gifts?;-)

Unlike the previous image on which I used no effects I tried the auto tone effect to bring out some detailing in the snow but unfortunately the coat of the polar bear darkened and the image lost its moody feel in comparison to the previous picture.

"never mind the chatter... just feed me."

As I was leaving the Journey to Churchill exhibit I saw two wild turkeys in the distance and managed to capture the second as it turkey trotted through the snow.

Took this image this morning as the solitary bear was being fed from the roof of their enclosure. I liked the rude feel from the tongue sticking out.
