That's really nice. Not as many stars but the lighter portion of the mountains make up for it. Is that a water fall in the distance?;-)

A darker background (either grey or black) serves to bring out slightly more detailing... not that that is important to the overall feel of the composition... but the detailing serves to ground the image in the rugged landscape where the photo was taken. The scattered lights create a sense of peace and loneliness... I used to get the same feeling when I traveled by ship along the coast of British Columbia as a young person.

Sandi, that's the 617 foot high Bridalveil Fall in Yosemite. The big
rock on the left is the 3000+ foot high El Capitan, and there off in
the distance is Half Dome, the summit of which is almost 5000 feet
above the valley floor.
