An autumn view along the Assiniboine River in downtown Winnipeg. Taken on the week ending on Thanksgiving Day with an unusual snowfall preceded by weeks of rain resulting in an equally unusual high water along the rivers in Winnipeg and through out much of southern Manitoba.

The snowfall on the Thanksgiving weekend was the heaviest snowfall in Winnipeg (34cm) prior to October 15th since record keeping began. The previous one was 18cm on September 25th, 1872. This was also the largest October snowstorm on record for Winnipeg. The previous record was 28cm on October 30-31st in 1971.

Normally one could walk on the river walkways along the Red and Assiniboine Rivers but not this year.

Beautiful to look at but the damage resulting from downed trees and fall power lines will result in a bill of $100 million for the Province of Manitoba with a further bill of $10 million in the City of Winnipeg clean up.

A shot from my apartment on October 11 as the snow storm really started to build.

Love the painterly street scene with all those LINES: verticals, diagonals, intersecting, overlaying, opposing, criss-crossing, and more! Kind of phantasmal, too, with the hunched over and obscure figure, the red hydrant, the "For Lease" sign, the empty but traveled streets, the other-worldly sculpture, and the spectral trees. Lots to see and appreciate. Thanks!

The OP is image that would do well hanging on a wall. The last image
my 2nd favorite Michael said it all. It makes me uncomfortable Jan,
because I know it will be here soon enough.
