Cormorant

His right leg is broken, and can't put any weight on it. He
is out there hunting, and he's looking good.

An interesting reflective composition making use of the cormorant's head and neck. To that I might have been tempted to crop to just the donut created by the actual neck and its reflective counterpart. I like the details especially the water droplets on the neck and head. I'm curious... do these bird migrate?

Thanks Jan, I tried your suggested crop. Should have done it to the
Raw file, instead of cropping the jpg. They do migrate Jan. I don't
know about this guy though. He has been at the same spot for over a
week now. I have spoken to park authorities, their attitude is let it
be.

Poor thing.

The original crop gives energy and movement to the scene, whereas the
other crop looks static and less interesting to me. I like the natural
history aspect of the shot and the colors in the water and on the bird
are delightful.

Thanks everyone for your comments. Strong overcast weather today, I
went to visit him anyway. I saw him dive and hunt for fish. He was
moving very well in the water. He holds his broken foot closer to his
body, when standing on solid ground. Winter is coming, time will
tell.
