Singing goldfinch

This pretty bird is Washington's state bird, fwiw. They have all flown south by now. I hardly ever saw any until I put up a feeder. Lots of them around here (Camano Island) and come in flocks of a half-dozen or so.

I like the clarity of detailing (right down to the tongue display) and the contrast between the goldfinch and the background. The catch light in the eye works well here to bring the singing goldfinch to life and one can almost hear the warble of the bird.
