The Sora is a small waterbird of the family Rallidae,
sometimes also referred to as the sora rail or sora crake.

What a striking appearance to this bird... the Sora which I have never seen in my life. I like the perspective as if the viewer is another bird, the color of the bird itself flowing from light to dark and the contrast between the Sora and the background which works to bring a sense of depth to the image. Well seen and well captured.

Wikipedia says that the name probably comes from a Native American
language. Like you Jan, I've never seen or heard of this bird before.
I added another image of a Virginia Rail another marsh bird.

That is a pretty bird. I don't think we have them here. Very good capture with good details/lighting.;-)
