Ruby Throated Hummingbird M.
Another first. I have only captured females in the past.
Unfortunately his visits were few and far between and I didn't get a
chance to take a couple shots

The OP shot is really good...all around good sharpness and nice background. Pretty bird too. The hummer is cute as always. Can you get any closer to the hummers when shooting?;-)

Well detailed as always with the catch light in the respective birds' eyes working to bring them to life for me. The image of the Ruby Throated Hummingbird is especially effective with an added plus of a textural component.

Thanks for commenting Sandi and Jan.
Sandi it depends on the hummer I guess, and the lens you use. I was
20 yards with my 300mm from the feeder. I gradually moved to 15 yrds.
Although getting closer made it harder to lock onto the hummer, in
it's back and forth movement. I returned to my original position of
20 yrds from the feeder, giving myself room to maneuver. My settings
were F4 1/3200 Auto ISO -2500 iso .
Thanks Jan.
