I find the b&w treatment works best, for me, for the architectural portions of the image (the central hallway which leads the eye deep into the image and the contrast between the pillar on the right and the architecture to the left and the right which creates a sense of depth in the image). Not so much for the flowers and the lady shopping for flowers but overall a classical feel for the setting.

There was a time when I paid little to no attention to the histogram following the click. I
see that here as well as in the preceding photo where the shadow and highlight side of
the histogram would probably spike through the top of the histo rectangle. I just
returned from a snow and ice trip to the High Sierra and I kept a close eye on the
histogram so the snow and ice didn’t didn’t start climbing the highlight side and lose
detail.

Guilty as charged ! I started to shift the blame to my
iPhone...Then realized , I shot this with one of my older compact
Canons :-)...Guess I'll always be an amateur but I continue to be
inspired by others who know how to get the best from their equipt.

Very interesting place. Great find and the effect is nice but a little over exposed in some places. The bike adds interest.;-)
