Your image reminds me of growing up in Vancouver, B.C. where rain was a constant companion in most seasons and that rain could really effect one's mood. The image is especially effective in a b&w format with the inclusion of the umbrella adding to the mood of the picture. Venice I would imagine from what I can see by the docks and across the water.

How thoughtful of you...;-)I like the distance city in the mist.

There’s a lot going on here but in an organized way. Obviously it starts with the shape
of the umbrella and the print patterns. Squares, rectangles and diagonal leading lines in
the the sidewalk. More verticals and horizontals in the wood walkway and other
structures over the water. And on into the misty background.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. Sometimes we get too close and
too enamored of our own own photo shots. Getting a fresh perspective
is always welcome.....Often, I hold back offering a critique because
I don't feel I can be perceptive enough to offer helpful comments.
We should all have Jan's talent in that regard. I do, however, look
forward to logging in on a regular basis to see the world as other
PCritique members see and record it.

It is a great picture. But. To me it's two different scenes that tend
to distract from one another: the umbrella and the dock with the city
in the background.

Two for the price of one ! :-) Sometimes, there are aspects of a
photo that work for me but the whole is not = to the sum of its
parts, ....now,Here below is one like that : no edit makes the scene
work, but there are parts I like....

EUREKA ! I think I finally found an edit for this that works
for me....an edit I'd never even thought to try before . I'm OVER MY
WEEKLY LIMIT for posts , but I'll post next week.

WARNING ! My edit probably won't work for anybody else. It took me a
minute or two to see it myself.

Thank you....I sometimes think one could walk through Venice, take
photos blindfolded and come away with a good percentage of"keepers".
