Their talons would really come in handy in such a precarious looking location while they are mating. The spread of the wings really stand out strongly against the blue sky.

Perfect wing span action shot. Just finished playing with my now solitary neighborhood
hawk. Got some grade ĎBí action but not like this

I was shooting at 1/1600 sec or 1/2000 and couldn't get the images
sharp. For action and flying it was suggested I use 1/3200. I thought
it was too high of a speed, but it worked. It brings a higher ISO,
which is easily dealt with shooting RAW. Just a FYI

My ISO has been 1600 @f11 and it has worked well. Tripod mounted with a remote
cord so I donít have to keep my hand on the camera (gets tiring quickly) and set for 10
shots per sec. They can take off so fast I try not to blink 😉
