Vertical view - Brumberger still makes slide viewers - I suspect this
is for viewing (very large) negatives or maybe positives

Possibly for copying medium/large format film.
Most likely just a film viewer though.
Does the flap depress the the light switch when it's down?
If not, it's probably just for viewing/cropping.

What convinces me that it is a contact printer is the red light, which is used to set things up without fogging the blue sensitive B&W Velox paper.
