High Rise

While strolling through the woods I came across this unusual mushroom. Not sure if it's edible or not but I'm not about to find out.
Two different views using a macro lens.

I like the manner in which you framed (vignetted?) the white mushroom with the darkened oval which works for me to create the illusion of parting the foliage and coming across this rather striking looking mushroom. There is an added textural component which adds to the visual appeal of your picture, for me.

Perhaps I'm wrong but looking at a picture of a shaggy ink cap mushroom I thought it was similar in appearance to the mushroom in your image. If this is a shaggy ink cap mushroom they apparently don't go well with alcohol.

Same mushroom 24hrs later. Lighting was a little different which
would have made for a better comparison but how much it's grown since
yesterday. Thanks for all the comments, much appreciated.

It's a shaggy mane (Coprinus comatus)--one of the best edibles. You
just have to get them before they autodigest to a black inky mess.
Like in the picture.
