Zabriskie

One sectional view from Zabriskie Point , Death Valley NP, Calif., pre-sunrise.
Responding with some Death Valley photos from one who is going for the first
time in early December and requested a small tour. Velvia, pre-digital. Thanks
for comments.

Striking image from Zabriskie Point (especially with the image set against a black background) full of detailing, contrasting tones and a textural feel. I like scrolling up from the bottom with the lightness of the immediate foreground ravines rising into the darker hues of the more distant Death Valley landscapes.

Oh, those colors are lush. How odd is that in Death Valley? I ran mesmerized through DV a couple of times on a motorcycle, once in November. The place is magical for inexplicable reasons. Vistas, colors, and formations like nowhere else. And then there is the quiet and absence of people. Wonderful photograph. Love those diagonals!

Beautiful. Excellent light and pleasing tones. Very well done. Looks almost alive.

Velvia is a great film, it is so nice with landscapes, it brings out
tones other film can't capture, as you can see in this image.

Fascinating terrain, well captured. I wonder what, if anything, might give a sense of scale?

Simple and stark, really conveys the atmosphere of the place.
